It's just a simple click in the corner to skip it.
How does it aggravate per se?
Is it "I'm lazy and an extra click to fap is too much to ask" or something else?

Well, if you want to browse the sub-boards it's an extra click each time, so click, see ad, close ad, browse. Then again click, see ad, close ad, browse etc etc. As a regular visitor it is annoying, and I ignore the ads entirely anyhow. So I don't bother anymore with the sub-boards anymore.

It also is annoying because the money-making is too upfront with interstititals like that. I don't mind ads per se, but those take up the full page and just plain get in the way. It's bad technology.

If you don't like the ads then you're saying "I want to donate," right?

If that's the case, go on IRC and find out how. The money goes straight into the hosting payment so you will know it's not getting spent on other things. It's just not possible to post that info on the site itself.

So if you want to donate and remove the qvvo links on the /people/ and /cw/ boards then go on IRC.

I wouldn't mind the ads, but those links don't work for me. I keep getting "IE can't display this page". Any idea why this happens? Spam-blocker playing up? Thetans?

Blacklists will filter interstitial advertising altogether. As long as a site / IP is blacklisted, you won't receive any content from it what-so-ever. This includes content from scripts. When something is blacklisted, it is forbidden from establishing a connection with your computer at all.

Firefox / Mozilla has extensions like "Ad-Block Plus" that can handle this. With Opera, you simply need to use a URL filter.
